Chilton County Released Inmates
A released Chilton County inmate is a person whose jail booking, sentence, hold, or correctional commitment has ended or moved out of that custody lane. In the county jail setting, the public-facing record usually starts with the Chilton County Sheriff's Office released roster. That roster is not a broad archive. It is a short-window public view of people released from the Chilton County Jail / Chilton County Detention Center. Once that window passes, the stronger sources are the sheriff's public-records request process, the court file, and any state or federal custody system that received the person.
The release can mean bond, time served, a court order, a dismissal, a transfer to the Alabama Department of Corrections, return to another agency, an ICE hold, or another custody-status change. That is why a missing current-roster entry is not proof by itself. The person may have been released to the community, sent to state prison, moved on a warrant, or transferred to a federal or immigration authority. Chilton County Release Paths
Release type controls where to verify the event. The sheriff's public release list may show a release date, booking date, charges, bond, and photo, but it does not always label the legal reason for release. A bond amount can be a clue. It is not a certified finding that the person bonded out. Court records, the sheriff's booking file, or the receiving agency record may be needed when the reason matters.

Chilton County Release Records
The public roster merges key booking and release details for recent jail releases. During research, the Chilton County released roster showed a booking photo, name, booking number, release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond, profile link, sorting tools, name search, and pagination. That is enough to show that the public jail system is treating the booking as released within the roster window. It is not the same as a certified release packet.
The formal record may be more precise. It can tie the release back to a booking number, the releasing facility, the charge, the court authority, and any public booking photograph. If the person was sentenced to ADOC, the county release record may only show the local jail change. The ADOC record, court sentence, and ABPP supervision record then carry the state-prison side of the release path.

Request Chilton County Release Records
The sheriff's public-records request process is the main fallback after the 48-hour release view expires. The Chilton County Sheriff's Office public-records page cites Alabama Code Sections 36-12-40 and 36-12-41, requires a written form, and says the completed request must be hand-delivered to the Sheriff's Office, Attn: Public Records, 500 2nd Avenue North, Clanton, Alabama 35045-3421. Phone and fax requests are not accepted. A minimum $20 processing fee must be paid by cashier's check or money order payable to Chilton County Commission.
- Identify the booking as tightly as possible, including full name, booking number, booking date, release date, and charge if known.
- Ask for the booking and release record, including release date and time, release authority or reason if maintained, charges, bond information, and any public booking photograph tied to that booking.
- Hand-deliver the completed form and minimum fee to the sheriff's public-records address.
- Review any acknowledgement or cost estimate. The sheriff may charge labor after the first hour, copy fees, and electronic media costs.
- Pay final production costs before records are released. The sheriff says it attempts compliance within 30 business days after final production cost is received.
Viewing may be available by appointment between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, when records are in a viewable format. If the issue is jail credit or sentence information affecting a state release date, ADOC says jail credit is prepared by the sentencing county's circuit clerk. For a Chilton County case, that makes the Circuit Clerk record part of the correction path.
Alabama Release Record Law
Ala. Code Section 36-12-40 gives Alabama residents a right to inspect and copy public records unless another law provides an exception. Chilton County's sheriff and county public-records pages use that framework, but they also apply local submission rules, fees, security limits, and record-specific restrictions. Juvenile records, sealed records, expunged records, safety records, and records restricted by court order may not appear like ordinary public jail records.
Expungement is a court process, not a roster edit. Ala. Code Section 15-27-2 describes when certain felony charge records may be expunged, and Section 15-27-4 addresses filing fee and indigency. If a public search result is missing because a record is restricted, use the official court and agency route. Do not try to bypass a restriction.
Find Released Chilton County Inmates
The strongest search path starts with the county source, then moves outward. Check the current roster only to see whether the person is still in active jail custody. If the person is not current, check the sheriff's released roster. The roster chooser calls that option "48 Hour Release," so it is most useful soon after the release. If the person appears, save the booking number, release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond, and profile link.
A person who leaves the current roster may have been released, transferred, or moved to another authority. Use the release record before drawing a conclusion.

- If the release is older than the public window, use the sheriff's public-records request process.

Chilton County 48-Hour Releases
Chilton County does not publish a distinct 24-hour or 72-hour release feed in the sources reviewed. It publishes a 48-hour release view. The sheriff's 2023 launch press release says the website lets the public view photos and booking details for people in the detention center and those released within the last 48 hours. The public release list also supports name/date sorting, a name search, show-all control, and pagination.

The image reflects the public roster layout, but it does not make the list a long-term archive. Older release records move to the sheriff's records process and court files.
ADOC Search for Chilton Releases
The Alabama Department of Corrections inmate search is useful only for current ADOC custody. ADOC says historical data is not available online. That limit is central to Chilton County released-inmates research because a felony sentence may begin in the county jail, move to ADOC, and later end at a state facility outside the county. A released ADOC prisoner may disappear from the public inmate search after discharge.

Chilton Court Release Reasons
The Chilton County Circuit Clerk is the official record keeper for District and Circuit Court proceedings, including Criminal, Traffic, Juvenile, Warrants, and other divisions. Court records often explain what the jail roster does not. A bond order, disposition, sentence, probation order, dismissal, warrant recall, revocation order, or sentence-completion entry can show why a person left jail custody.

The directory lists routing for District Criminal, Circuit Criminal, adult probation, the county jail, and the sheriff. The court file is especially important after the 48-hour release roster expires.
Chilton Release Supervision
Parole and probation are supervision statuses after release, not proof of every jail release. A person can leave the Chilton County Jail on bond with no ABPP supervision. A person can leave ADOC on parole or mandatory supervision and report locally. A court probationer may also report after sentencing. The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles Clanton Field Office serves Chilton County and is the local office for many supervision questions.

Chilton Notifications and Transfers
VINELink and Alabama VNS are custody-notification tools, not certified court files. Alabama VINELink and the national VINELink portal can help with custody status and notification registration where the participating system has the person. Alabama VNS is narrower. It says it is for offenders convicted in Alabama and sentenced to ADOC custody, and it directs no-trial inquiries to the sheriff in the county where the case occurred.
Federal and immigration records use separate systems. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. BOP says that if a listed release date is in the past and no facility is shown, the person is no longer in BOP custody. The ICE locator is for current ICE custody or certain CBP custody situations. A county release to ICE is a transfer from county jail, not proof of release from all custody.
